The aim of the present study was to identify the factors influencing career path development through an inter-organizational approach in the Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone. Philosophically, the research was based on the interpretive paradigm; methodologically, it followed an inductive approach; in terms of research type, it was qualitative; and in terms of purpose, it was applied–developmental. The statistical population consisted of human resource managers and heads of personnel affairs in companies operating in the Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zoneand faculty members in the field of public administration. From this population, 18 participants were selected using purposive sampling. Data analysis was carried out using Braun and Clarke’s (2006) systematic thematic analysis method. The analysis of the conducted interviews led to the identification of 150 basic themes, which were organized into 23 organizing themes and six overarching themes: organizational factors, individual capabilities, continuous development, educational factors, inter-organizational factors, and networking and professional relationships.
