Abstract: (3 Views)
Energy governance, especially in Iran's oil and gas industry, requires a coherent and efficient structure due to the vital role of this industry in the country. Corporate governance, as a tool to strengthen the corporate layer among the three layers of governance (policymaking, corporate governance, and regulation), is of interest to scholars and researchers in the field of governance. In this research, through an analytical-descriptive method, a theoretical framework has been extracted in line with the position of corporate governance in the energy governance structure, focusing on the Iranian oil and gas industry, as well as examining empirical studies in selected countries (China, Qatar, Brazil). Also, another part of the research, through a case study method, is dedicated to analyzing the Iranian energy governance structure with a focus on corporate governance. Finally, three suggested solutions were proposed to achieve corporate governance in the Iranian oil and gas industry. In the short term, a solution was mentioned to change the method of selecting the company's board of directors. In the medium term, a solution was considered to change the chairman of the general assembly and separating the role of the chairman of the board of directors from the company's CEO as a long-term solution was proposed.
